7. 어린왕자(The Little Prince) 영문으로 읽기

Do you think that this sheep will have to have a great deal of grass?

이 양은 많은 풀을 먹어야한다고 생각해?

 

 

"Why?"

왜

 

"Because where I live everything is very small."

내가 사는 곳의 모든 것은 매우 작기 때문이야.

 

"There will surely be enough grass for him, I said "It is a very small sheep that I have given you."

틀림없이 양을 위한 충분한 풀이 있을거야, "나는 너에게 매우 작은 양을 주었어"라고 말했다.

 

He bent his head over the drawing

그(작은 친구)는 그림을 향해 머리를 숙였다.

 

"Not so small that - Look! He has gone to sleep."

And that is how I made the acquaintance of the little prince.

그리고 그렇게 해서 나는 그 어린왕자를 알게되었다.

 

It took me a long time to learn where he came from.

나는 그(어린왕자)가 왔던 곳을 아는데 오래 걸렸다.

 

The little prince, who asked me so many questions, never seemed to hear the ones I asked him.

나에게 많은 질문들을 했던 어린왕자는 내가 어린왕자에게 물었던 질문들을 결코 듣고 있는거 같지 않았다.

 

It was from words dropped by chance that, little by little, everything was revealed to me.

우연히 뱉은 말들로부터 점차 모든 것이 나에게 드러났다.

 

The first time he saw my airplane, for instance (I shall not draw my airplane: that would be much too complicated for me), he asked me

어린왕자는 나의 비행기를 처음 보았다, 예를들면 (나는 나의 비행기를 끌고 오지 않았다: 그것은 나에게 너무 어려운 일이었다) 그는 나에게 물었다

 

"What is that object?"

그 물체는 뭐야?

 

"That is not an object. It flies. It is an airplane. It is my airplane."

And I was proud to have him learn that I could fly.

He cried out, then: "What! You dropped down from the sky?"

"Yes," I answered, modestly.

And the little prince broke into a lovely peal of laughter, which irritated me very much.

그리고 어린왕자는 사랑스러운 웃음소리를 냈다, 그 웃음소리는 나를 매우짜증나게했다.

 

I like my misfortunes to be taken seriously.

나는 나의 불행이 심각하게 받아들여지는 것이 좋다.

 

Then he added: "So you, too, come from the sky! Which is your planet?"

그리고 어린왕자는 덧붙였다 "그래서 너 역시 하늘로부터 왔구나! 너의 행성은 어느거야?"
