15.어린왕자(The Little Prince) 영문으로 읽기

The lesson which I pass on by this means is worth all the trouble it has cost me.

나는 이 방법들에 의해 전한 교훈은 비용을 들게 한 모든 문제들은 가치가 있다.

 

 

Perhaps you will ask me, "Why are there no other drawing in this book as magnificent and impressive as this drawing of the baobabs?"

아마도 너는 나에게 물어볼 것이다. " 이 책에는 왜 이 바오밥나무들 그림 같음 웅장하고 인상적인 다른 그림은 없어?"

 

The reply is simple. 

대답은 간단하다.

 

I have tried.

나는 노력해 왔다.

 

But with the other I have not been successful.

그러나 나는 다른 그림들에 성공적이지 못했다. 

 

When I made the drawing of the baobabs I was carried beyond myself by the inspiring force of urgent necessity.

나는 바오밥나무들의 그림을 그렸을 때 나는 절박한 필요성에 영감을 주는 힘의 의해 나 자신을 초월했다.

 

 

Oh, little prince! Bit by Bit I came to understand the secrets of your said little life...

오, 어린 왕자여! 점차적으로 나는 너의 작은 삶의 비밀을 이해하기 시작했다.

 

For a long time you had found your only entertainment in the quiet pleasure of looking at the sunset.

오랫동안 너는 일몰을 보는 조용한 기쁨이 유일한 즐거움임을 알아왔다.

 

I learned that new detail on the morning of the fourth day, when you said to me: " I am very fond of sunsets. Come, let us go look at a sunset now."

나는 "나는 일몰을 매우 좋아한다. 와라. 우리 지금 일몰을 보러 가자"라고 네가 나에게 말한 4번째 아침에 새로운 사실을 알았다.

 

"But we must walk," I said. " Wait? For what?" "For the sunset. We must wait until it is time."

그러나 우리는 걸어야만 해. 나는 "무엇 때문에"라며 물었다. "일몰을 위해" 우리는 시간일 될 때까지 걸어야만 해.

 

At first you seemed to be very much surprised. 

처음에 너는 매우 많이 놀랄 거야.

 

And then you laughed to yourself.

그리고 그때 넌 스스로 웃을 거야.

 

You said to me:"I am always thinking that I am at home!"

너는 " 나는 항상 집에 있다고 생각하고 있다"라며 나에게 말했다.

 

Just so. Everybody knows that when it is noon in the United States the sun is setting over France.

바로 그거야. 모든 사람들은 해가 프랑스에서 지고 있을 때 미국은 정오라는 것을 알고 있다.

 

 

If you could fly to France in one minute, you could go straight into the sunset, right from noon.

만약 당신이 일분 내로 프랑스로 날아갈 수 있다면, 당신은 정오로부터 바로 일몰 속으로 갈 수 있어.

 

Unfortunately, France is too far away for that.

불행하게도, 프랑스는 그렇게 하기엔 너무 멀어.

 

But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need do is move your chair a few steps.

그러나 너의 아주 작은 행성에서, 어린 왕자, 너희 모두 필요한 것은 의자를 몇 발자국 움직이는 거야.

 

You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like...

너는 원할 때 언제든지 하루의 끝과 떨어지고 있는 황혼을 볼 수 있어.

 

"One day," you said to me, " I saw the sunset forty-four times!"

어느날, 너는 "나는 44번의 일몰을 봤다"고 나에게 말했다.
